Exploring Downtown Seattle’s Neighborhoods
There is a saying about experiencing a new city, “To truly experience a city, get lost in it.” While enjoying your vacation stay in Seattle, you may not want to actually get lost, but instead let go of any tourist agenda and simply wander. Exploring a new city is always fun so here is a helpful link and a list of the top three Seattle neighborhoods to get “lost” in.
Downtown SeattleDelivering mixed views of mountains and cityscapes, Downtown Seattle provides both natural wonders and world-class attractions all in one spot. Located between 12th Ave and the shoreline, Downtown Seattle houses the energetic Pike Place Market, the mother of all farmer’s markets. Graze through a myriad of samples from vendors of local farms. For a fun late night affair, the Pink Door romances with Italian eats with a side of live entertainment. If seafood and cocktails are more your style, check out the Blueacre during happy hour for freshly shucked oysters and $5 cocktails.
BelltownBelltown is just north of downtown Seattle, between 5th and 1st Avenue. It offers a mix of high-rise condos and trendy dining and shopping spots. You won’t get bored while visiting Belltown as things always seem to be alive from morning till night. The Café Belltown offers Asian cuisine along with American sandwiches and breakfast. Shopping is an adventure all its own while visiting Schmancy, a quirky stuffed animal and trinket shop. Peruse Singles Going Steady, a record shop that carries vintage vinyl, tapes, and CDs from your punk rock days and beyond. If art pieces are more your style, the Olympic Sculpture Park offers whimsical pieces along with a stunning scenic view of the Elliott Bay shoreline.
WaterfrontScenic views and pier fun make up Seattle’s Waterfront. A leisurely stroll along Pier 50 to Pier 70 takes roughly 30 minutes, allowing you to take in the view while getting your stomach ready for all the good eats. The Crab Pot offers freshly steamed crab legs and just-shucked oysters ready to be devoured, but first, you have to be equipped with bibs and wooden mallets. Bibs and mallets, the perfect seafood utensils! For an all day trip, ferry rides showcase beautiful scenic views and culture within Washington. A trip to Bainbridge Island is great for an all-day adventure, as well as the naval town Bremerton, which is located on the Kitsap Peninsula.
