The Earshot Jazz Festival: Jazz Around the Sound

Autumn in Seattle is breathtaking. Summer crowds are thinning out, which makes everything more accessible. Temperatures range from 40 to 70 degrees so as you pack for your trip to Seattle, don’t forget your favorite sweater or light jacket to keep cozy and fashionable for whatever the day and night may bring.

What it might bring, if you’re in Seattle this fall, is a world-class live jazz festival. The Earshot Jazz Festival has been supporting jazz in Seattle for over 30 years. This jazz festival is a collection of masters and mentors who offer a full spectrum of jazz. From high-profile concerts in Seattle’s finest halls to cutting edge creations, this festival moves the art of jazz forward. This month-long festival brings together jazz greats from around the world. Not only concerts by important and emerging artists, this festival rounds out with a series of rare jazz films, photo exhibits, panel discussion, and educational programs.

Earshot Jazz is a Seattle-based nonprofit music, arts, and service organization. Formed in 1984, Earshot supports jazz and increases awareness in the community. They publish a monthly newsletter and present music and educational programs. They also assist jazz artists, increase listenership, complement existing services and programs, and network with the national and international jazz community.

The Earshot Festival runs from October 9 to November 18, 2015. It features venues that range from small, intimate stages to main stage performances. Music venues are located all around Seattle and finding one near you is a quick click away. Some participating venues this year include Benaroya Hall, Edmonds Center for the Arts, and Kirkland Performance Center.

Prices vary depending on the venue but all remain more than reasonable during this renowned world-class entertainment. You can purchase tickets online or by phone. All events are all-ages except the Nectar Lounge (21+), The Triple Door (after 9pm), and The Royal Room (after 10pm).
