There are endless reasons for travelers to take to the road, skies or sea and make their way towards Seattle, Washington. The stunning landscape, exciting city scene and variety of restaurants makes this a destination that caters to visitors of all tastes and styles. Those visitors who come with a passion for purchasing destination-specific products will want to be sure to make time for a trip to Glassybaby Studio and stores. This meaningful locale is a business that gives back with every purchase.

A Story of Strength and Survival

The concept for Glassybaby was born in 2001 when 3-time cancer survivor Lee Rhodes from Seattle decided to create a beautiful way to help others with the expense that comes with healing from this often-deadly disease. Rhodes took a passion for glassblowing and turned it into an interactive and meaningful experience by creating a shop that sold glassworks while giving a portion of profits to individuals and families fighting cancer. Glassybaby consistently contributes more than $1 million to nonprofit organizations that are in the business of helping cancer patients and survivors deal with the costs associated with treatment and care. Today, Glassybaby has grown to include several stores and hot shop studios across Seattle, Oregon and California. Visitors who stop in at any of these locations will find a colorful assortment of glass pieces available for purchase with each having been hand-crafted by one of 80 glassblowers that work for Glassybaby.

The Studio Experience

While Glassybaby is dedicated to providing a service that gives back, the mission of this company means it’s just as committed to providing the general public with opportunities to understand and experience the joy of glassblowing. Glassybaby studios host a variety of events for guests to come and see glassblowing demonstrations or have a hands-on experience where they create glassworks of their very own! The studio is set up for tours, giving guests the chance to get a look at the entire process of making these beautiful works of art from start to finish. The Seattle-based studio is easily accessible at 3406 East Union Street and happily accepts individual sign-ups as well as groups looking to experience glassblowing together.
