Seattle Center’s Winter Festival

While downtown, be sure to stop by Pike Place Market. During the holiday season, the market is decorated with lights and Christmas trees. In the market, you will find hundreds of vendors selling everything from baked goods, and local meats to crafts, jewelry, and paintings.

The Winter Festival at the Seattle Center is one of the city’s biggest holiday celebrations. The five-week long event includes both free and affordable family-friendly events. Events include a free train ride on a turn-of-the-century train and ice-skating rink under the shadow of the Space Needle. On Saturdays from noon to 2 p.m. watch professional artists sculpt seasonal sculptures out of ice. The Armory stage in the Seattle Center will also host several free concerts throughout the month of December.

Ring in the New Year at the Seattle Center, where there will be two simultaneous parties that will end in an elaborate fireworks display. Rock band Sway will play cover songs at the Armory Stage from 8 p.m. to midnight. Or head over to the Fountain of Light where there will be an electronic dance party and video projection show by local DJ Freddy King of Pants and VJ Baryonyx. The electronic dance party starts at 10 p.m. Both of these events are free and include an up-close view of the Seattle Center’s annual New Year’s Eve fireworks show.
