Do you love great beer? Chances are, you already know that Seattle is a star in the Pacific Northwest’s growing microbrewery scene, and if you truly love beer, you’re already planning to sample some brews during your visit to the many interesting things to do in Seattle. Why not make it easy, and combine a visit to several great breweries with a walking tour around the East Ballard neighborhood just five miles away from Downtown Seattle?
Interesting Things to Do in Seattle: Seattle Brewery Walking Tours
The East Ballard Breweries Tour is arranged by Seattle Brewery Walking Tours, who also offer tours in a few other neighborhoods. It’s an easy walk of less than a half-mile in total, over the course of 3.5 hours. You’ll enjoy visits at three different breweries: Lucky Envelope, Populuxe, and Bad Jimmy’s. The tour meets at Lucky Envelope, and operates regardless of weather; this being Seattle, you should probably already know to bring a jacket and umbrella, just in case!
All three of these great breweries are waiting to surprise your taste buds with some delicious brews. Lucky Envelope is East Ballard’s newest and smallest microbrewery, with a simple and straightforward aesthetic. They exist purely for the brews, so you’ll find nothing fancy here, except people who are friendly and dedicated to their craft. Populuxe is a cute little blue house with a nice outdoor courtyard and the fun recent addition of pinball machines. Bad Jimmy’s is known for their intense ales, so get your taste buds ready!
Lots of Samples and Extras
The tour includes four beer samples at each brewery, about equivalent to one full pint at each spot. Of course, you may purchase more of whichever beer you enjoy most, though you can’t carry an open beverage to-go. The things to do in Seattle USA tour also comes with a souvenir beer tasting glass and souvenir bottle opener.
This tour is focused on beer and is not a food tour. That said, it’s Seattle, so you’re always guaranteed to find great food somewhere nearby! If you get hungry during the tour, some of the breweries may have food trucks outside for snacks on the go, though the tour company cannot guarantee their schedules. The final stop, Bad Jimmy’s, has several great restaurants next door, so you’re welcome to bring a meal in to enjoy with your beer.
Finally, keep in mind that these tours, while fun, are geared towards adults only. Though some breweries may be child-friendly, others may not, and besides, your kids would just get bored. Enjoy some adult time on your list of things to do in Seattle USA, as you spend a few fun hours sampling some great brews!
