While waiting for the show to start, the Woodland Park Zoo offers plenty to do and see throughout the day. One event happening during Zoo Tunes is the Bear Affair. The Bear Affair showcases grizzly bear brothers Keema and Denali ransacking a mock backyard and campsite in their exhibit to show what happens when you don’t properly clean up or bear-proof your outdoor living space. The zookeepers and conservation experts are on hand to teach you safety tips to follow to avoid dangerous encounters like this in your yard or camping adventure. About Woodland Park Zoo The zoo sits on 92 acres of land and is just 10 minutes north of downtown Seattle in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood. From mammals to birds to reptiles, Woodland Park Zoo exhibits 1,000 animals that represent almost 300 different animal species. New to the park are two Asian elephants, Bamboo and Chai, who have safely come to the park from their temporary residence at the San Diego Zoo. While waiting for the shows to start later that night, be sure to check out the animals that are more than happy to play and enjoy their environment day and night.
During the summer (May 1 – September 30) the zoo is open from 9:30 am to 6:00pm daily. Tickets are $19.95 for adults, $12.25 for kids 3 to 12, and toddlers up to 2 are free.
